Blocking General Information Drug Updates

This topic is intended for Independent pharmacies only and is not applicable to Rexall pharmacies.

When general information drug updates are blocked, the following fields in the Drug Folder Main tab are protected from future updates:

  • Generic Name

  • Trade Name

  • Strength

  • Drug Form

  • Mfr

  • Colour

  • High Alert

The data is still downloaded to Propel Rx but not automatically applied to the Drug Folders. The Review Overrides feature allows you to review the blocked downloads for each drug and choose whether or not to apply the updates. For more information, see Reviewing Overrides.

The date that the drug's general information was last updated is displayed in the Last McKesson field in the Drug Folder Main tab.

To turn the general information drug updates block on or off:

  1. Open the Drug Folder. The Inventory tab opens.

  2. Select the Main tab.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • If you want to block general information updates, select the Block Updates checkbox. Your store will be responsible for keeping the drug information up to date.

    • *RECOMMENDED* If you want to receive general information updates for the drug, deselect the Block Updates checkbox.

  4. Select Save.
